The 5th National Congress of Chinese Society of Toxicology will be held on August 10-13, 2009 in Guiyang, Guizhou Province of China. The Congress will be organized by the Chinese Society of Toxicology (CST), with assistance of School of Public Health of Guiyang Medical College. Dr. Junshi Chen, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) will be the Honor Chairman, Dr. Zhixong Zhuang will be the Chairman, and Dr. Pingkun Zhou will be the Deputy Chair and Secretary General of the Congress. The theme of the Congress is “Innovations and Developments in Toxicology- Serving the Construction of the Harmonious Society”. The Congress will also elect new CST Council.
The CST was established in 1993 in response to the need of communication and sharing ideas among professionals from different areas of toxicology. During the past 15 years, the CST, with 20 Speciality Sections, 2 Regional Chapters, 14 corporate members, and more than 2500 individual members from academia, industries, and governmental sectors, has become one of the major scientific societies in China. The CST holds National Congress of Toxicology every four years to exchange information and research interests. Previously, the Congress was held in Beijing (First, 1993), Xian (Second, 1997), Nanjing (Third, 2001) respectively. Last successful conference, the 4th National Congress of Toxicology, was held in Shenyang of Liaoning Province in September 2005.
The 5th Congress will include Keynote Lecture, Platform, Symposia and Workshop, Poster Sessions, and Exhibitions. Speakers, from China and overseas are invited to present diverse areas of toxicology and public health and disseminate new developments and advancements of toxicology in their fields. Two Continuing Education Courses (CECs), in addition to many symposiums and workshops on various areas of toxicology, will be held as a parallel program during the Conferences.The Congress will provide great opportunities for research scientists from academia and industry, governmental regulators, and corporate sponsors to communicate, collaborate and cooperate nationally and internationally.
